Meet Kathryn and her family, if you don’t already know them. She is a fellow photographer in the Hickory, NC area and I was honored to have the opportunity to photograph them. We met up at McGalliard Falls for their session. It was on one of the days that we had the wildfires pretty close to us. So it was hazy even though sunny. Very odd. We got some pretty light right towards the end though as the sun dropped just below all the bad air in the sky.

I think it makes you a little more picky anytime you take another photographer’s family pictures. However, I do feel like it made me more relaxed because you know they just get it. They know when you are standing in thought for a moment that you are considering light and background and posing and who knows what else. They know you are trying to bring out children’s personalities and make everyone relaxed. They just KNOW!

Kathryn and her bunch were so easy, all the way down to their dog. I love the colors they chose and they look fabulous. We have worked together numerous times on different things and I always feel so at ease around her. We like to cut up too and have fun with things. She is just that way and her children are so loving to each other. Her husband was also very tolerant and easy going about our extensive chatting at the end of the session and us being all over the place in what we were doing. Hahahah!

Seriously though, I am so glad I got to document a family session for you guys. You were so much fun and I’m glad I got to meet your Husband and kids Kathryn. I think your big love shows through in these. Thanks so much for asking me! I will forever be grateful for the images you provided to my family last year as well. Some of my favorites.
