Brown Mountain Beach Wedding | Lenoir, NC Photographer
Colleen and Jacob were married at the lovely Brown Mountain Beach Resort in Lenoir, NC this past Fall. This venue is the perfect mix of outdoors, rustic and relaxed. The venue truly lets the outdoor ambience shine with Wilson Creek rushing by just behind it. A paddler and creek enthusiast’s paradise. It also accommodates its guests in cottages and yurts for an off the grid wedding feeling. All of that is right up my alley and I love to shoot here! I can’t wait to share Colleen’s bridal portraits at this little piece of paradise soon. Until then … I wanted to get this wedding blogged and show off their beautiful day.
Colleen and Jacob planned their wedding at Brown Mountain Beach so that their families could all spend the weekend together after travelling in from different areas. They met serving for A Small Miracle in Raleigh, NC where their paths were destined to cross. Colleen is in medical school and also serving our country. While she was away at basic training Jacob knew he could not live without her and asked for permission for her hand in marriage. It doesn’t get more romantic and emotional. He proposed upon her return and she said YES! We were able to witness the love and stories around their union during their toasts that evening. These two are super sweet and adored by both sets of parents. Once of the best things about being a wedding photographer is witnessing so much emotion and loving family dynamics as the day unfolds.
The day before their wedding a LOT of rain came in hard and fast. The creek swelled to cover the beach that the ceremony was planned on. There was still a slight drizzle when I arrived but the day was clearing. The beach was flooded but no one skipped a beat switching gears. The ceremony was held inside the venue with a roaring fire in the fireplace behind them. It was pretty cozy, magical and special. As forecasted, the rain stopped and Jacob and Colleen got their wish of dancing under the sky outdoors on their wedding night. They also got their coveted photos on the rock by the creek. This is an amazing spot that gives a full view up Wilson Creek and is too good to miss out on. Colleen was determined to be on that rock and insisted that she had good footing in her cowboy boots. I was the total mother hen using extreme precaution on how far out they went. The photos are beautiful!
Thanks as always to the amazing Melissa Biggers for assisting me in shooting this wedding. I don’t know what I would do without her! Thank you to Colleen and Jacob and your families and friends. I am so glad we got to capture your wedding day memories. You were awesome to work with and we wish you much love and happiness.
