I am so glad that I am finding time in the slow winter season to blog this wedding at The Barn on New River! It is such a beautiful venue and a pleasure to shoot at. This wedding did not disappoint but most importantly the bride and groom were awesome and FUN! I enjoyed working with you and your family and friends so much and getting to know you along the way Katelyn and Will!
First, let’s talk about these beautiful wedding party colors. Dusty sage and navy is timeless for a wedding party and the wild flowers florals in purple, yellow, orange and white are always one of my favorites and so fitting in this setting. This venue has the most beautiful garden as you will see with tons of dahlias and other wild flowers so it all fit perfectly. The day was beautiful and it was cooled off with a quick shower during the reception which was perfect timing!
Speaking of reception, this one was a BLAST! Everyone had so much fun dancing the night away, especially Katelyn. You are my kind of girl sis and the rapping segment, YES! Well let’s just say my wedding may have consisted of something similar. One of my favorite photos of the evening was during the garter toss. You can see Grandma in the background gasping and everyone encouraging the fun. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it, all the real moments!
Will and I met around 2011. I was a waitress at a sports bar in Boone that he and his best friend used to frequent. We were always very friendly and cordial (maybe a little flirty 😉 ) – but it never went much further than that. I started a new job across town and dating a co-worker, little did I know Will actually came by looking for me one day after work. Asked someone where I was in hopes to catch me after my shift. They told him the news of me seeing someone and the chase ended there. Fast-forward 4 years to us crossing paths again. We started out just casually grabbing drinks with friends and having puppy play-dates, neither of us was looking for a serious relationship after the past ones we had gotten out of. Well the puppy play-dates became more frequent along with the shared dinners and secrets, and next thing we knew we were spending majority of our time together and couldn’t get enough of it. Some people say timing is everything, and I couldn’t agree more.
We had been dating for 3 years and were just head over heels. Had talked several times about our future and kids and marriage but never did I expect the engagement the way it came. We were in Hilton Head celebrating a friends wedding on a sunset cruise. Will had coordinated with the other guests and of course, asked permission to propose before stealing anyone’s thunder. The couple actually got married 2 months prior, and was having a delayed “party” for everyone to attend at the beach. Just as the sun reached Golden Hour, we were on the top level of the boat. Will was acting so strange, couldn’t even look at me. I will never forget how nervous he was (now knowing what was coming!) We were looking out at the ocean just taking in all of the beauty, when he dropped to one knee and asked that question every girl dreams of hearing. Of course the tears start flowing and after a very excited “YES” champagne bottles popped and every celebrated into the night! It was one of the happiest days of my life.
We enjoyed capturing your day and are grateful for the trust you placed in us to do so. A special thank you from me to Erin Lutz for assisting in photographing this wedding. I could NOT do it without you!
