This is how we do it ba-by! We L-O-V-E to camp! I don’t know why it’s so appealing. I mean the outdoors is obvious and anyone who knows me knows I have a firm root planted there in so many ways, but it’s more. It’s the time without interruption. You can’t turn on electronic devices, you make a new little place spiffy, organized, home (usually a tent for us).

You talk about life, dreams, challenges, love and everything that makes our time here on Mother Earth all worth it and you enjoy her and your family. You bond, you hike, you have adventure! I know some people don’t want the roughing it part but do enjoy the rest. Wow though … it just does some wonderful things for our souls. Don’t get me wrong, I like our trips in a nice house on the beach; but these are more frequent and spontaneous and so worth the work.

Anyway,  Allegheny National Forest is Gorgeous with a capital G! Our recent trip to see my Husband’s family landed us in this cute little cabin for a few days and we got to explore the area. It totally looks like Dirty Dancing doesn’t it? I mean, I know they filmed that right here in our beautiful state but I couldn’t help to think it looked the same.

The boys caught crawdads in the creek and fished while I chased a beaver like a crazy person just to get the shot. We also saw a large black bear in the road but I wasn’t quick enough on the draw for that one! The drive is LONG, hence the boredom car shots and the selfie in the rearview. The  boys do handle it well though (shout out to the VW van and Mighty Machine videos for that) and ultimately it’s worth the trip!

However, after 12 hours we were glad to see the beautiful sky in the last shot. Yep, that’s home sweet home and they were getting a bit annoyed with me that I had to get out and capture that one at the foot of our drive!
